Delhi: A fresh opportunity has opened for engineering graduates and diploma holders looking to build a career in government service. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the notification for the Junior Engineer (JE) Recruitment 2026, announcing 1,748 tentative vacancies across various technical posts and central government departments.
The online application process began on September 2, 2026, giving eligible candidates a limited window to submit their applications. The last date to apply is September 22, 2026, up to 11 pm. Candidates can complete the fee payment process until September 23.
1,748 vacancies across key engineering fields
The recruitment drive covers technical positions in disciplines including Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, along with additional technical roles introduced in the 2026 recruitment cycle.
The vacancies are spread across several Central Government organisations and departments, including the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Military Engineer Services (MES), Central Water Commission (CWC), Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and other organisations. The recruitment also includes the Scientific Assistant post in the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The posts are classified as Group ‘B’ non-gazetted positions, with a Level-6 pay scale of ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400 under the 7th Central Pay Commission.
Applications are already open
Candidates interested in the recruitment can apply through the official SSC website. Those registering for the first time are required to complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) before submitting the examination application.
Applicants should carefully enter their personal, educational and post-preference details and ensure that all required documents are submitted in the prescribed format.
The SSC has also announced a correction window from September 28 to September 30, 2026, giving candidates an opportunity to rectify permitted errors in their applications.
When will the SSC JE exam be held?
The recruitment process will take place in multiple stages. Paper-I is tentatively scheduled for October or November 2026, while Paper-II is expected in December 2026.
Candidates should therefore use the application period not only to complete registration but also to begin structured preparation for the examination.
